NBC News Field Notes contributors (2024)

In Field Notes, NBC News reports on what’s happening in your neighborhood, your city or your state. The postings will shed light on news that doesn’t always make the headlines as well as offering analysis on the big and small stories of the day.

Regular contributors include NBC News correspondents, producers and other staff across the country. Read below to learn more about the journalists behind the blog.

Peter Alexander joined NBC News as a general assignment correspondent in the summer of 2004. Based in Los Angeles, Alexander has covered a variety of domestic and international stories for “NBC Nightly News” and “Today.” Click here to read Peter Alexander’s full bio.

Ron Allen is an NBC News correspondent based in New York. He recently returned to the United States after many years based in London, covering stories across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia. During more than 20 years of journalism, including a decade abroad, Allen has been a correspondent for reporting teams that have won numerous awards, including six Overseas Press Club Awards, four Emmys, two Robert F. Robert Bazell is NBC News' Chief Science and Health Correspondent. His reports appear on "NBC Nightly News," "Today" and "Dateline NBC."

Bazell has won numerous awards for his reports, which number more than 3,500 to date. When he was awarded the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award for distinguished achievement and meritorious service in broadcasting, the citation said Bazell's "reports have exemplified the best reporting on science and medicine. From transmission of the AIDS virus to innovations in cancer treatment, from the perceived dangers of cellular phones to alternative modes of health care, Mr. Bazell brings intelligence, understanding and reportorial excellence to the task. John Boxley is an NBC News producer based in Burbank.

John Cheang is an NBC News producer based in Burbank.

Jack Chesnutt is an NBC News producer based in Denver.

Gene Choo is an NBC News producer based in Burbank.

Tom Costello is a Washington-based correspondent for NBC News. His reports appear on “Today,” “NBC Nightly News,” MSNBC and CNBC.

Prior to joining NBC News, Costello spent seven years at CNBC, most recently as the network's Senior Correspondent.

Patrice Fletcher is an NBC News producer based in Chicago.

Sarah Ford is an NBC News producer based in Burbank. She was previously based in London and has reported extensively from Baghdad.

AJ Goodwin is an NBC News Deputy Regional Director for the Southeast and is based in Miami.

Savannah Guthrie was named NBC News White House Correspondent in December 2008. Guthrie is based in Washington, D.C. and contributes to all NBC News properties, including "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams," "Today" and MSNBC. Hilary Guy is a producer in NBC News Northeast bureau. Guy started at NBC as a desk assistant for the Nightly News with Brian Williams. Since then she has covered breaking news stories from hurricanes and wildfires to the shootings at Virginia Tech for the Today Show, Nightly News and MSNBC.

Charles Hadlock is NBC News producer and correspondent based in Dallas.

Al Henkel is an NBC News producer based in Dallas.

Aarne Heikkila is an NBC News producer based in Burbank.

Stephanie Himango is an NBC News producer based in Miami.

Chris Jansing is an NBC News correspondent based in Burbank.

Leo Juarez is an NBC News producer based in Chicago.

Michelle Kosinski is an NBC News correspondent. Kosinski has covered a variety of international and national stories for NBC News. She reported from Pakistan on the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, and in Europe has covered terrorist threats and attacks in London, Glasgow, and Germany. Kosinski also covered the Alexander Litvinenko poisoning case in London, the Virginia Tech shootings, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the Utah mine collapse.

Sue Kroll is an NBC News producer based in New York.

George Lewis is one of NBC News' most-honored correspondents. The winner of three Emmys, the George Foster Peabody and Edward R. Murrow awards, he is no stranger to world crises. Lewis is based in Los Angeles. His current assignment includes coverage of the revolution in information technology.

Lewis began his career with NBC News as a war correspondent in Vietnam in 1970. He spent a year and a half there, returning in 1975 to cover the fall of Saigon to the North Vietnamese. He has been back four times since the end of the war to report on the legacy of Vietnam. Since then he covered the Iran hostage crisis, the first Gulf War, as well as the current war in Iraq. Jim Miklaszewski is Chief Pentagon Correspondent for NBC News. On September 11, he was the first at the scene to report that the Pentagon had been attacked and has since led the network's coverage of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Since joining NBC in 1985, Miklaszewski was a White House correspondent during the Clinton and Bush administrations, covering President Clinton's transition from Little Rock, his many trips abroad including Moscow and the Middle East and his reelection. Andrea Mitchell is the Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent for NBC News, a position she has held since November 1994. She reports on evolving foreign policy issues in the United States and abroad for all NBC News broadcasts, including “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams,” “Today” and on both CNBC and MSNBC.

In addition to reporting on a variety of foreign affairs issues in 2004, Mitchell also covered the 2004 presidential campaign for NBC News and was a regular panelist on MSNBC’s “Hardball.”

Ron Mott was named NBC News correspondent in May 2005 and is based in Atlanta. Mott contributes regularly to “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams,” “Today,” MSNBC, CNBC, and NBC Mobile.

Mott has covered some of the most notable stories in the Southeast since joining the network, including Hurricane Katrina, for which he earned an Emmy nomination and a “Let’s Do It Better!” Award of Excellence from Columbia University for reporting on race and ethnicity; the Duke lacrosse sexual assault case; and a series of church arsons in Alabama. Lisa Myers is NBC News' Senior Investigative Correspondent. Her groundbreaking reports on the war on terror, politics, Iraq and corporate scandals such as Enron have triggered official investigations and altered the political landscape. Myers can be seen on the top-rated “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams,” “Today,” “Meet the Press,” MSNBC and CNBC.

After years of distinguished reporting as NBC's chief congressional correspondent, Myers was tapped in late 2002 to lead NBC's Investigative Unit. She and her team have since produced more than a hundred investigative stories on terrorism, politics and the billions in federal contracts flowing to Iraq.
