🚀 As Innovation Hub we are always looking for radical innovation, products and solutions that have not been proven yet, that can contribute to solving our day-to-day challenges. With safety being the key driver in aviation, non-proven technology is usually out of scope. However, non-proven technology can often radically change the way we operate right now. You just need to see and prove the opportunities.⏳ After months of hard work, many stakeholders involved, several co-creation sessions and a lot of phone calls, followed by e-mails, followed by another phone call, we did it. Together with our new partner from Denmark, Cobot Lift, we tested a working prototype of a Collabortive Robot in the baggage hall, testing with live baggage.🕹 By creating a prototype that is (almost) completely detached from our existing infrastructure, we were able to put it down for two weeks, setting up, calibrating, improving, adjusting, testing, and ultimately achieving the goal, successfully handling live baggage.💼 Together with the handler, Aviapartner, we have handled numerous live flights, where we proved the capabilities and potential of using a Collaborative Robot with vacuum technology to fully autonomously handle up to 90% of all baggage. The product is designed to facilitate a valuable interaction between the Cobot and the employee, creating a first step towards a better, healthier and more enjoyable workspace for baggage employees.🏆 My biggest win? The amazing people I've met along the way, the hard work that everyone put in, the collaborations that we shaped (and tested thoroughly), and above all the great conversations, discussion and (dis)agreements we have had.
