Basketball, FIBA World Cup 2023: All games, results and group standings

The prestigious 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup is finished, with Germany sealing their first-ever victory.

Thirty-two teams began the competition, fighting to be crowned world champion and secure one of the quota spots on offer for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The first group phase saw all participating nations divided into eight groups of four teams.

After the first round, the top two teams from each of groups A-H advanced to the second phase, which featured four groups of four teams. Here, every team played against the two teams in their group that they did not face in the first group stage.

The bottom two teams from phase one played classification matches to determine the placings for 17-32.

After the second round came quarter-finals which featured the top two teams in each of the second-round groups.

Holders Spain went out in the second round after a defeat to Canada who joined USA in taking the two Paris 2024 Americas quota spots.

Australia and World Cup debutants South Sudan had already secured Olympic berths as the respective highest-ranked teams in Oceania and Africa.

Canada defeated Luka Doncic and Slovenia in the quarter-finals with Latvia putting out Lithuania who had stunned the USA in their last second-round match.

But the biggest shock was yet to come with Germany stunning USA in the semi-finals after Serbia had beaten Canada to book their berth in the final in Manila's Mall of Asia Arena on 10 September.
